About Ogon Koi
We have always had a keen interest in Koi carp and because of this, we decided to put our expertise into practice and create Ogon Koi.
Ogon Koi is based in Upton near Newark in the East Midlands where we have various different pond houses with a total of seven ponds. Within these seven ponds we have two large show pools and five smaller pools, All of our pools are equipped with the latest technology to help aid the growth and development of our koi. We also have a spectacular 30,000 gallon offsite pond that we are currently using to help the growth of some of our top Tategoi that have come directly from the breeders in Japan.
Once a year we fly out to Japan to meet Saito at Shintaro Koi, one of the top breeders in Niigata. We were introduced to Saito through one of the top koi judges in the UK, Alan Coogan. We have now formed a very good relationship with Saito and during our trip, we help to harvest some of his koi from the mud ponds up in the mountains of Niigata. We then hand pick our koi which are then flown back to us in the UK. Once they have arrived back in the UK, we have an offsite quarantine pool where we monitor the fish before putting them into our ponds at Upton.
Here at Ogon Koi we have a wide range of koi inclding sanke, utsuri, chagoi and many others. The prices currently range from £30 for some of the smaller koi up to £4000 for the larger, older koi. If you do require a particular fish that you cannot see on our website, please let us know as we do have our contacts out in Japan and they would be more than willing to help us locate your particular fish.
Our sister company, Ogon Homes Ltd is a well established building company who built Ogon Koi’s pond houses and the offsite ponds, so if you are starting from scratch and need a pond building, we can also do this for you!
